Changes.
by Whitney Bateman
I decided to start this blog as an easy way to share photographs and updates from my travels, apart from my commercial site whitneyjadephoto.com.
Saying that traveling is a passion of mine would be an understatement. For as long as I can remember, my dreams have been in exotic lands. When I was a child, my dad would travel frequently for business and would bring me back a doll from each country he visited. I displayed the dolls in my room, hoping to one day see some of those places for myself. Soon, I will.
I’ve experienced tremendous change in my life over the past 14 months, and traveling has been an outlet for me. Exploring a new city, or even one that’s now become familiar, has both distracted from the bad and drawn attention to the good. Most importantly, I’ve learned more about God, and in the process, more about myself. It’s hard to stand in front of a mountain or the sea and not feel infinitely small next to the One who created them. Small, but powerful, through Him.
Over the past year, I’ve been fortunate enough to visit the following:
Seattle, Portland, Vancouver, Victoria, Denver, Colorado Springs, Boston, Cambridge, Providence, Cape Cod, Chicago (twice), New Orleans, St Louis (several times), Nashville, Asheville, Lexington, & Washington, D.C.
But more changes are to come. This January, I will be leaving for Vienna, Austria, where I will live for 3 months while working with missionaries. It’s truly a dream come true, and the thing I’ve felt more sure of than I have anything in awhile. I’m so thankful to God for opening all the right doors.
Onto the next chapter.
'Spirit lead me where my trust is without borders, let me walk upon the waters, wherever you would call me.'
